As my excitement about the upcoming season builds I sometimes find myself searching out other tidbits of information about my favorite team. When I look past the newspapers I see that I am finding more and more people blogging about the Blazers than ever.

Here are some of the best.

Game One from the 300 seats

This won’t be a statistical analysis of our first game of the year. And it won’t be the same kind of look at the game and the players you’d get from a pro who studied the game. It’s just a few random thoughts from a longtime fan who watched our team for the first time this season with an old friend and a few Widmers.

We upped our ticket purchase this year from the ten game package we had in the club level and sprung for a full season in the 300 level. On the way to the game we had a conversation about parking, multiplied 41 games plus 3 season games times the ten dollar parking fee and came up with $440 in parking fees. So we opted to park at Lloyd Center and take the Max to the Garden. We got there about an hour before gametime and there were lots of people walking briskly towards the arena and past some familiar faces outside buying and selling tickets. It felt good to be back.

nd on the 28th day we finally get to see them play.
Only a few days left until the season opener in Los Angeles. I thought last summer there was more anticipation and conversation about the upcoming season than I had ever seen. Well, this year there has been even more. I’ve been hungry for a chance to see what this group of players can do. The last few months have been fun, the draft, training camp, the arrival of Rudy, our first glimpses at Oden playing in the red and black, and that first preseason game against the Kings.
There has been a lot of news about this team over the summer. Some stories have caught my interest more than others. Whether the Darius Miles experiment in Boston or which player would fill the fifteenth roster spot fancied you more….one thing is certain. We will no longer have to distract ourselves with this stuff. Tuesday the 28th in Los Angeles our season will begin. We’ll finally get a chance to just kick back and enjoy watching this team grow together.

Here we go.  I've waited what seems like a long time to say it, but its time for our first game of the year.  We'll be playing the Lakers in Los Angeles, in their house.  We'll be on national tv, and playing in front of Jack Nicholson, Diane Cannon, God, and everyone else.  Its a good test for these guys and a good opportunity for them to learn to step up to a challenge.  You can say what you want about Kobes knee or his hand, Odoms attitude, or Bynums contract, but one thing is for certain.....Phil Jackson will have this team ready to play basketball.

This Laker team is much the same as the one that played Boston in the finals.  The big change though is the return of seven footer Andrew Bynum to the starting lineup, allowing LaMar Odom to slide over to small forward.  It will be fun to see how our own Greg Oden matches up with Bynum.  Up until now Chris Kaman has been the best center he has faced and he gave Kaman fits.  Certainly some pundits and most Laker fans will disagree with me but I'm calling this matchup even.  I'm expecting big things from Oden in this game.  This is the stage he has been waiting to play on for a long time and I will be surprised if we don't see him at his best.  How this affects Bynum I'm not sure.  We'll get to find out Tuesday night.
