OK, that title was irresistible, but in fact I'm going to say that Chien-Ming Wang's foot injury should force the Yanks hand in a trade, especially when combined with other injuries this season. Funny how little things can combine to lead to something even larger, accumulating momentum gradually until it becomes irresistible, as it has with the murmurs about a trade for C.C. Sabathia, which is really more the point of this blog.

One of the talked-about items in two of my fave teams (Reds and Mariners) is the possible return of Griffey to the place where he got his start. Seattle's been scouting him, and there's a bit of a buzz, but it's not much more than idle talk at this point, but it's an interesting feel-good possibility that could help out both teams. I think it's pretty clear that next year, Portland faces a roster crunch.  Adding Greg Oden, a lottery pick, and possibly Rudy Fernandez means there will be some odd men out.  While few would shed tears over the departure of Monsieurs Von Wafer, Raef LaFrentz, Darius Miles, or Josh McRoberts, I think there are a few difficult decisions to be made.  I am far from alone in thinking that packaging together a few of our players to make a trade may be a prudent (and maybe even likely) move this summer.
