Even though this has been a "down-year" in all things having to do with Seattle Sports, there is a group of dedicated writers looking to provide reasons and answers for our terribly under performing teams.

SeaTown Sports ( http://www.seatownsports.net/) is an independent sports blog that is dedicated to providing up-to-date analysis and news of sports happenings in Seattle. We focus on the Seattle Seahawks, the Seattle Mariners, and Washington Husky Sports. We also include insight on high school sports around the Seattle area.

As avid sports fans, me and my friends often discussed, argued, debated, and sometimes fought over things relating to Seattle sports. We decided to take this passion and put it into this blog. While we continue to enjoy, play, and

Game Preview of Portland at Utah 11/5

On the road vs the Utah Jazz. A hard nosed veteran team that won 54 games last season and a division title. The Jazz beat us twice in preseason. But in both games a number of our frontline players sat the game out. The second time we did this there were rumors that Nate didn't want to show Jerry Sloan his full bag of tricks. We'll see. Everyone should be available for this game against the Jazz.

Speaking of Jerry. He is a throwback. A hard-nosed ex-player coach. A former Chicago Bull from the Van-Arsdale twins era of NBA basketball. He is a tough old bugger and perhaps the NBAs leading proponent of good old fashioned pick and roll, pick and pop basketball. He doesn't do anything fancy. Just the same old stuff over and over and over again. He is a master at getting his team to execute these simple plays to perfection. And he is also a master in the art of game adjustments. Before we hired Nate I really wanted our team to go after Jerry Sloan. He may be the best coach in the league. Sorry Phil, you had MJ and Pippen, and Kobe and Shaq. Yes, Jerry did have Malone and Stockton, but not much else. And I question whether their careers would have been the same if they had played for a different coach. Jerry Sloan has done more with less than any coach in this league.

You may have noticed the small icons at the bottom of your blog posts linking to MySpace, Facebook, Digg, Stumble Upon and other social media websites.  These icons allow you to quickly link your blog post to these sites.  You should be using these links a lot.  Submitting to social media sites is free and easy and can really increase the traffic to your blog.  Consistently using them is the easiest way to build a following and increase your traffic.
Using the Facebook and MySpace links:
Assuming you have an account on MySpace or Facebook (it's free to join so if you don't sign up now) click on the icon below your blog post for the site you want to submit to.  It will take you to a submission page where you simply put in a brief description about your blog post.  Then, a link to your blog post will appear on your Facebook or MySpace profile. It's that easy.  If you have a large following on either of these sites it's an easy way to get people to your sports blog.  So make sure you submit links to your best sports blog posts.

You may have used every fiber of your being to convince yourself that it is not possible for Greg Oden to be the next Sam Bowie. Yet, deep down every true Blazers fan is having that voice of concern. Every game that Oden sat at the end of the Blazers bench was just one more game that he looked like a more famous version of Bowie. In five years will we be looking at the possible players we could have taken.

Will be dreaming of MJ, Ewing, Barkely and all of the greats we passed on before. I doubt it. Oden simply works too hard to fail. With a surrounding cast that would be in the mix for the playoffs without Oden it shouldn't be difficult for this touted big man to succeed.

The Blazers have handled Oden like a new born and nursed him a long for almost two years now. Oden is finally on the court doing drills with the team and is looking like a dominant big man that many have had visions of. Portland is a great city for basketball, and Oden is bringing the hype back to Rip City

A big thanks to everyone who participated in the "Inbound Link Contest".  We have a winner!  A big congratulations go out to Marija.  Thank you for all your hard work on this.  While we had a lot of people participate, Marija was able to win with only 4 links!  So it wouldn't have taken a lot to win this contest!  We'll be having another contest soon so stay tuned.

The whole purpose of this contest was to get our bloggers networking with other webmasters and to start to build up their inbound links which will help their traffic.  Even a few links can help you with the search engines as they will see you as more of an authority on your topic the more inbound links you have.

To learn more about marketing your blog check out this post: http://www.nbabasketballonline.com/sports_content-rev_share_faq.html#my_faq_2971
